WOYWW 191 & Finished Storage Box

Hi everyone,
Its Wednesday again our favourite day of the week where we all get to have a good nosey look around everyones work desk.  To find out how to join in the fun, visit Julia's blog at
stamping-ground.blogspot.com

OK so there is a bit of a mixed bag on here this morning.  The stamped butterflies were done last night and laid out to dry for my workshop this morning so they are about to be gathered up and put in my bag.  The die cut  shapes are heading the same way.   Working to the left we have 3 small frames I have had for ages, they are real cheapies from ikea and I am going to have a go at making one of those layered picture frames which are in all the shops at the moment, thus my new glue gun to stick them all together, another bargain bought this week for a fiver from Aldi .   Just above the glue gun is another new purchase, a dylusions stamp set and on top of this is this months edition of Craft Stamper magazine.  It is turned to the page where they are showing you how to uncycle old drinks cans into gifts, solving the mystery of why I have a few cut up and in the process of being embossed.

I hear you say but hold on,

where is the long awaited box?

well, it is here, finished as you can see.  I am quite pleased with the end result.

Right time to get my skates on and do some work, I will be back later for a look around all the other desks to see what everyone has been up to.

WOYWW 190

Hello everyone and can I say a big Thank you for visiting my desk.
Lots of you commented last week that WOYWW is quite addictive and can I say that I quite agree. If anyone wants to join in the fun go to stamping-ground.blogspot.com to find out how.
As you can see the bargain wooden box is painted and the outer papers from tildas sewing bird are on and mod podged!  On the left Is my lovely stash waiting to be put onto this and there are lots of die-cut lacy bits included in that pile of lovelys.  This seems to have taken forever to gesso, paint, and seal and I had to prep for my workshops so the box went on the back burner for a couple of days.  My lovely Big Al was celebrating his birthday this last week as well, so all in all lots of decent excuses not to have this project finished.   I will of course post a picture so you can have a good look when I do.  Off now to do my workshop but I will be back later for a look around other desks.

Green/Aqua Mirror

Good Morning Everyone and a very big welcome to my new followers who have joined me from WOYWW lovely to have you on board and THANK YOU everyone who commented on my previous post.  As promised I am showing you my finished mirror that I had on my desk yesterday.  I love doing these mirrors and you may see afew of them cropping up every now and again on my blog.

With this mirror I used pool, silver and citrus alchohol inks on gloss card for the backgrounds and felt it was a little too citrus so I have used pool only on the top embellishments to help things pop out.  all the stamps are from the Tim Holtz classic favourites set by Stampers Anonymous stamped with black archival.
You will spot the obvious items, the lock die-cut from Tim Holtz Hardware findings bottom right which has also been cut and shrunk top left with one of my favourite things shrink plastic.  Bottom centre we have the Tim Holtz Glass Fragments (I know the caption does not match with just glass but it does go with the mirror as a whole). I have added a chain and crystal pendant from my stash onto 2 chipboards diamond shapes to the bottom left.  Moving up to centre left are some pen knibs I found at a car boot not quite as nice as Tims, but they were cheap (50p for 10!) I spend a lot of time at car boots! as you have probably noticed. Top left of course is the ideology filmstrip ribbon. The keys, little glasses and the small pocket watch were all from my stash picked up here and there over the years and the stamp held with the clip is from a Lindsay Mason set I have had for a while called Creative Thoughts.
Now the silver metal tape surround looks like I have gon over it with a texture roller but in fact it was some old carpet joing tape I had let me explain what I did....

Cut into Strips
Cut metal tape into strips large enough
 to wrap around
Lay carpet strip central onto sticky side
of the metal strip

Wrap metal around
Use an emboss tool to bring the
texture through

So there we go, I hope this gives you some inspiration do comment on your thoughts I love to hear from you. Now we are due a large drop of the white stuff tomorrow, so I am off now to do my shopping before if starts.

WOYWW 189

Hello Everyone, this is the very first time I have joined in WOYWW and I am really looking forward to sharing my usually messy desk with you, today however it is looking quite organised.  So, I am nearing the end of a mirror project as you can see, and I am trying to paint a very gold pair of dolls glasses with silver alchohol ink to go onto this.  The mess on the glass mat is all bits and pieces being used on the same project. On the top left you can see a wooden chest of drawers I have picked up at a car boot sale for - wait for it £1 wow bargain! I am going to cover it with acrylic paint and papers taken from the Tilda Sewing bird pad, you can just see the edge of this on the left.  This pad was part of a birthday present from a friend last July and I have decided its high time it come out and got used. So there we go first WOYWW post over, I am off now to have a nosey at other desks. If you fancy joining in the fun with Julia just link up at stamping-ground.blogspot.com.
  see you soon.

Acrylic Canvas

Hello everyone
Firstly can I say hello to my new followers and thank you for taking the time to comment.
I went to visit my friend Anne bollyanne.blogspot.com this week and she kindly leant me a dvd by  Trish Latimer.  Create with paint reminded me of techniques I had not done for a while and inspired me to create this Canvas.  Trish shows you how to do 3 projects as well as showing you ideas of how to complete your work with some lovely finishing touches.

The paints I used are Creative expressions Eco paints sand, lake, and ocean, and white and the stamp is from Kanban.  I stamped the lighthouse scene, onto sticky back canvas and coloured with the same paints to blend in with the background so it sort of looks like it was done directly onto the canvas. The bird and the sentiment were done the same way but left white so they stood out.  The sentiment was framed with a micron pen to make it pop out a bit more. The shells, flying fish and wheel are all bits from my stash.  I know its a little out of season, but with the dark winter days we are enduring that feel like they are over before they have started, I felt like looking towards summer, longer warmer days.   I am currently putting together workshops that I will be doing at High Legh Garden Centre starting on the 23rd January.  If you are around the Cheshire area in the future, High Legh is a lovely recently refurbished Garden Centre with something for everyone including a well stocked Craft shop, train rides for the children, and a large light and airy  restaurant with mouthwatering dishes.

January Tag

Firstly can I say a big big Thank you for your comments, I really do appreciate them.
This year I have decided to have a go at Tims tags of 2012.   I like many am by no means made of money, so I try to make do with what dies/stamps etc I already have in my stash. I say there is nothing wrong with having to use your imagination, and its a great sense of satisfaction delving through what you already have and finding things you have not used for ages, and then realising they are just the thing to to do the job in hand. With this in mind I wanted to share with you my version of the January tag done by the one and only Mr Tim Holtz.
This is a picture of the componants I used for my tag (sorry the light was rubbish today and you can see the glare from my craft light on the photo). I do not have the sissix cogs which I think is a big z die but as luck would have it, the x-cut cogs were part of a christmas presant from my beloved.  I cut some from grunge paper and some from shrink plastic and coloured them with metallic distress ink and alcohol ink. The emboss folder is a different one than tim used it is also sissix and it was part of a twin set the other folder was a mixed alphabet one (sorry not sure of the name of the set).   I usually have loads of spinners but I did not have any left in my stash so I used clock hands from an old spellbinders die I got in a sale called S4 067 watch faces, I also used this die for the dial top left hand side as I do not have the pointed finger stamp.  The stamping on the vintage ribbon was done with archival ink using Creative Expressions Journal Months, I used a bit more of this ribbon across the top of the tag stamped with January. The  sentiment is from Tim holtz collection attic treasures (Not pictured).
I was that engrossed in making my tag, I forgot to do step by step photos as I went along (something else I must remember in future posts).   Tim however is much more organised than me and does have step by step instructions, so why not pop onto his blog and have a go timholtz.com.
Happy Crafting !!
