Tags of 2013 Halloween

Hello Everyone, thank you for visiting me in blogland. Big hello to new follower alibabs.

I have had a few stresses over this months tag because anyone who knows me know that there are two things in life I cannot get on with. One is sand and the other is GLITTER. So when the master came up with this glitter inspired tag this month I was heading for the door. But then I thought well maybe I can use my distress glitter glue (I can cope with this as it stays intact and does not stray to areas it should not be!). Out came the bottle, and it became obvious that no way was there going to be enough in the bottle to do the project, so back to the drawing board and finally I found  a way to complete my tag and the result is here.

I was itching to use a few of my new dies and stamps I had purchased recently and decided to use the Bigz window die and box as my frame.  As you can see it is glitter, yes but...
sorry it is non-shed glitter card:(
I apologise to all of you who are gasping with disgust,  but, hopefully I have made up for your dissapointment with the rest of the project.

The background was made up very much the same as Tim describes here using  different distress paints and the marbeling effect technique and edged with black soot  distress ink. The background was then and  stamped using black archival ink and a few different stamps from my stash.

This cobweb die-cut was one cut by my friend Anne when she came down with her die and of course you will all recognise the sentiment as one from the lovely simple sayings set, another new purchase, I am in love with these, so useful.
These little bottles were cut from shrink plastic from another of my new dies, the bigz apothecary bottles.  They were coloured with distress paint on the back and then shrunk down.  I love the little stoppers that come with the die as well the bottoms of the stopper were coloured again with paint to give them a cork colour and the top of the poison one was given a coat of distress crackle glaze as was the front of the magic potion bottle. The labels are hand made  as I don't have a stamp this small.

I had to get an owl in somewhere and this little fellow was in my collection of many owl charms.  He had the meanest look on his face so that is why he was chosen.  I coloured his eyes with ripe persimmon distress paint .

The ribbon was coloured using the same colours as the background and then stamped when dry with the cobweb stamp.
The spider and cobweb stamp is from the Indigo Blue Hocus Pocus set, his legs got a coat of gloss sakura pen and his body was given 2  small  blobs of black distress glitter glue to make him a bit more 3d.
I actually really enjoyed making this tag and for once I am not last minute with it.
Thanks for your visit.
Hugs Mo x

Happy Mail

Hi Everyone,
Look what popped through my door today.

It is a sweet little wall hanging made by Hels Sheridan that she was giving away as a blog candy and little old me was lucky enough to win it.

It was a nice sunny day today so I took it into the garden to photograph it and I think it looks lovely nestled amongst my bay tree as if that incy wincy spider has just dropped down from it onto the picture.

I love the textures and the colours she has used on this project and the shading she has created around the edges of the flowers and stems with the artists pencil.

It now has pride of place on my craft room wall amongst other treasures made and given to me by other crafty friends, plus a few projects of my own of course:)

Thank you Hels for the chance to win this.
Hugs

Reindeer and Kingfishers?

Hello Everyone,

Have I confused you all with the title of this post? well read on and all will be revealed.  Last Monday my lovely friend Anne and her DH came down for a visit and after we suggested the boys go for a long walk:) me and Anne disappeared off to play in my little Craft room.

As usual Anne had brought lots of crafty goodies both for us to play with and a few gifts she had made for me - how lovely is this card Anne is the master of these accordion cards and the detail is amazing in this one.  Take a close look at the wording that is with the dragonfly it reads lifetime friends and I am sure we definitely will be.

We made a little note book each with the beautiful new 'Timmy' fabric , this one is mine

The photo on the right is a before and after with the metal name holder.  They were reduced to clear at 50p for 3 and as you can see the original was copper glitter when I bought it.  A little rubbing off of the glitter and fresh coat of black gesso left to dry and then tickled with treasure gold gave it a lovely old metal look - perfect to match my lovely note book.

Anne brought a couple of her new dies and I had her working hard die cutting me a few to play with. I have put a couple to use already and made this card with the gorgeous reindeer and Merry Christmas.  The Tattered pine cone has been given a mixed raffia bow, and the snowflakes are stamped onto acetate with white stayzon.  I don't do glitter, but I do like the sprinkle of frantage shaved ice on the top of the red.

I on the other hand was on melt pot duties.  I bought a resin owl from Indigo blu a while ago now and I fell upon a mould recently that would do the exact same owl but a little smaller plus with the added bonus of a kingfisher too (Anne will be smiling reading this as I spent all day calling them Woodpeckers!!) you know how it is when you get something in your head and it won't go away? they don't look anything like Woodpeckers.  I melted Lapis Sapphire UTEE in the melt pot and poured it into the mould.  Then Anne got to work with my Distress Paints and coloured them with the Spiced Marmalade, these are for a workshop I am doing later in the month, something for the ladies to add to their finished pieces.

We had a wonderful crafty few hours together plus a very enjoyable bite to eat at our newly refurbished local pub, all in all a lovely day - Thank you Anne x ps the boys enjoyed their long walk as well as a well deserved drink at the pub!

Canvas ART

Hi Everyone,
Sorry I have be AWOL for a while, I have had a lot of design projects going on in the background that I can't show you at the moment but I can show you what I got up to yesterday.  I spent a lovely day at Craft Station in Kirby in Ashfield with Hels Sheridan again and this time it was one of her Canvas Creations Workshops check out her blog Here for more inspiration. We had loads of fun playing with Texture paste, acrylic paints and sprays. This is my Canvas

It looks quite small on here but it is actually about A4 size and a nice chunky canvas.   Hels gave us loads of different die cuts for us to cut up and stick on the blank canvas to get a bit of interest going. I  then applied White Dreamweaver paste a couple of stencils in two of the corners.  I initially was determined not to keep to my almost trademark blue tones and chose Mushroom and Stone acrylic paint colours to use as base colours, these were applied to the canvas with cut n dry foam.  As you can see there was a tickle of blue crept into two of the corners:)  sorry couldn't resist the tube on the table being used by one of the other ladies saying Hi Mo please use me.(excuses excuses!)
A few torn pieces of different tissue tape was added to give more interest and  then I used a soft pencil and ranger nibs dampened with a baby wipe around some of the die cuts to add definition and make them pop out of the canvas.

Next step was to create a background for my chosen word from watercolour paper and coloured with the same paint as the canvas background.  The word was stamped With black archival and edged with black distress.
Now the flowers.  Hels gave us loads of metal embellishments to use and also a great selection of white paper flowers for us to colour with ink sprays.  I chose to do the centre flowers with a copper brown and the larger ones with blue and gold.   I had to use more of that scary black marble dylusions spray under the supervision of Hels and managed to add it onto the canvas without creating a blackout of everyone and everything else around me.

More embellies were added, isn't this Peacock adorable, he comes without his colour and looks lovely just like that but when I got home I  tickled some beach hut fresco paint on him to match in with the rest of the colour theme. I think he just sits perfectly on top of his die cut and tissue tape 'fence'.

This butterfly is also lovely, again I have given him a little bit of colour on his body and his wings and antennae.

The only other addition after the workshop was Treasure gold to highlight some of the raised areas and the edges.

There we have it, lots of fun was had by all.

This was not the only perfect crafty day I have had this week, I had a visit from my lovely crafty friend Anne who came down armed with lots of goodies to play with and bearing gifts.  Tune in to my next post soon to find out what we got up to in my Craft room.

As always THANK YOU for your visit and your comments.
